The state of our footpaths and roads in this village is poor to say the least! Temporary infills are just that - you cannot just "bung" some tarmac in potholes then walk away, the holes come back very quickly!
The pavements should have remedial works carried out before someone falls and makes a claim! People should not be expected to walk on the roads because it is a safer option to the pavements! I know that surveys have been carried out by the Parish Council and forwarded to the appropriate authorities, but has anyone seen any works carried out?

Re -the state of footpaths in the village, when metioned to the

appropriate bodies the answer is always - -budget !!

no money left - Yes! - but we keep paying every month.

Would it be cheaper to repair the footpaths or face a large claim when
somebody gets injured? Wonder what odds the bookies would
give?

At this time of year the councils are all trying to spend their budget before the financial year end, so perhaps now is the time to raise them again.

I have filled in the defect note on the e system (thanks to this forum link) but have heard nothing yet. Are all you others who are noting the defects, letting the council know by filling in the defect notes?

We seem very quick to "diss" the few who VOLUNTEER (Parish Councillors), to put our points across to the various authorities for the lack of results or even feedback, but are you supporting their findings?

Yes we do pay taxes to cover these things but again, if we only grumble within the confines of our own four walls, the councils will never try to stop our complaining, cos they can't hear YOU Confused Crying or Very sad

Nobody is "dissing" the volunteers.

Until recently we've only had the barest ability to communicate in any way with any official body, inside or outside the village... once-a-month meetings which invariably fall on the wrong day for attendance, no pre-published agendas, no published minutes ... I'm not sure what you expect.

The web site has opened up a number of avenues for communication that weren't there before, and these are obviously being used... to some degree.

So, I agree .. press those buttons.

Agreed. I think the fact that people are raising issues here, and not just for the Parish Council, indicates there's a desire to be involved at some level.

Just thought I would update you on the fact that a council worker (Notts) was spotted measuring and other such technical things on station road taking into account POTHOLES and poor footpaths. So good news ---- we are on the map of works to be done, not sure what, when or how but we are getting higher on the list!

I'm not reading too much into this, I just think it better to be optimistic than pessimistic Party

Thanks webb master for the useful reporting link. Applause

I recently reported a damaged street light on Mire lane and it was fixed within the week! Surprised

This actually got a swifter response than the normal snail mail method used by the P.C. so perhaps a good lesson learnt too! Wink

I notice from the Parish Council minutes that they still seem to be reporting Station Road pot holes via the Clerk, when they could actually use the same mechanism that you used!

I think you will find its an all directional approach, it has been reported on the e-system as well as snail mail - still no response though!
